Marmaris
The gateway to the Bozburun and Datça peninsulas, where gulets are still built by hand.
Marmaris has one of the best natural harbours in the Mediterranean and a large marina, but its real value is what lies beyond it. Within a few hours you reach the Bozburun peninsula, with its fishing villages and the yards where wooden gulets are built in the traditional way.
Further west, Datça is famous for almonds, thyme honey and olive oil, and for Knidos, an ancient harbour city at the tip of the peninsula where the sunset falls between the ruins. It is the route for guests who travel for the table as much as for the sea.
